Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP is one of Canada's leading business law firms with over 500 lawyers in six Canadian offices.   We are seeking a highly professional full-time Research Specialist to join our Knowledge Management team.  The primary role of the Research Specialist is to provide high-quality, tailored research services using state-of-the-art reliable resources and techniques as well as to communicate research skills to others across the firm as needed.
 

Typical Duties & Responsibilities:
 

Primary responsibilities include providing timely, high-quality, focussed responses to research requests by applying understanding of legal and business research and information resources; developing useful and innovative research and practice support resources; designing and delivering comprehensive training programs on advanced research techniques; evaluating and recommending on-line research tools.

 

Qualifications:
 
Skills required include an advanced understanding of legal and beusiness trends, the ability to identify and analyze results to support client work and business development, the ability to evaluate and select on-line resources best suited to providing comprehensive and accurate results efficiently; in-depth knowledge and use of on-line, web-based and print business and legal information products; ability to evaluate and learn new research products; awareness of trends in information services and technology. 
Applicants should have a Master of Library and Information Science degree or equivalent as well as a minimum of 3 years experience working in reference and research, preferably in law or profesional services.
